Electric Motor Professional Design is a combination of application to aid in determine the correct electric motor circuit design.
Motor OCPD application is used to calculate the rating and setting of motor branch circuit, short-circuit and ground –fault protection devices.
When using Motor OCPD Application:
1.Determine the motor FLC by taping the Next button that goes to NEC Reference information screen.
2.Then tap the ‘MotorOCPD’ button to return to the main screen.
3.Tap ‘Enter FLC’ text field and a number pad will appear.
4.Then enter the FLC from the NEC Reference information.
5.Tap above the number pad to remove number pad and enter FLC.
6.Select motor type and then determine the rating or setting for the protective devices.
Motor overload protection sizing (OLPS) is used to calculate the overload setting of a motor.
1.This is achieved by determine the category of the motor from its name plate if it is a continuous or non-continuous motor.
2.Enter FLC or FLA base the NEC regulation to determine overload protection of a motor.
3.Enter the condition into the textfield base on that motor category
4.Tap to enter values
5.Select motor category
6.Result will display the OLPS ,categories and motor operating time
7.To determine thermal overlaod
•Enter the FLC from the reference information
•Tap to enter
•Select thermal overload
•The result will display OLPS and thermal overload
AwgVD Calculator is used to determine the condition that limits voltage drop of AWG cable. To determine these conditions the step are as follows:
1.Determine if the circuit is Single Phase or Three Phase
2.Select the condition to limit VD; they are current( I),circular mils (CM), voltage drop (VD) and distance (D)
3.Select the condition then input the relevant values indicated on the picker
4.Then select to determine the condition to limit voltage drop
5.If you are limiting voltage drop and the distance is in meter, a meter to feet converter is used. To accomplish this enter meter into the text field (Enter Meter ) and tap to enter and your result is displayed to the right of the screen.
6.To limit voltage of cable greater than 2/0 the adjustment factor is used.
7.A new constant (K) is determine by multiplying adjustment factor(Q) by constant (K) then enter into constant K text field
8.To help you understand this application tap Next button to go to the NEC reference information for theory of cable voltage drop and chapter 9 table 8 to 9
