When I was a child my mother insisted that we acknowledge our Birthday and Christmas gifts by sending "Thank You" notes. She explained it was just good manners to express your thanks anytime you received a gift or a big favour.

This normally involved a trip to the local newsagent where we would pick out a packet of cards made with nice textured paper and featuring Australian landscapes or flowers. Using our best handwriting, we were required to write a personal message of thanks. Naturally, as a kid, we didn't enjoy this as much as we did receiving the gifts! But it was a good lesson - it did teach us not to take generosity for granted.

In the last few weeks, I've had occasion to send two "Thank You" cards and this inspired me to think of a way of doing this which involved the iPad. After Googling, I found this wonderful article written by Leslie Harpold, "How to Write A Thank-You Note". In her article, Leslie outlines "a six point formula to the proper thank-you" which made me realise that effective "Thank You" notes could be written quickly and effectively. Leslie's article is the inspiration behind ThanksNote.

ThanksNote emulates the stationery and handwriting of the real thing; you have 350 characters to write your message, a compose button to email your note, and a camera button to save your card to the photo album. There's eleven nice backgrounds for you to select; it really couldn't be easier!
