สนช. ได้ตระหนักถึงความสำคัญของข้าวต่อการพัฒนาประเทศ จึงมีเป้าหมายที่จะยกระดับข้าวในเชิงพาณิชย์ จากสินค้าโภคภัณฑ์เป็นสินค้าเฉพาะที่มีมูลค่าเพิ่มสูงขึ้นและสอดรับกับความต้องการของตลาด ทั้งนี้ สนช. กำหนดทิศทางของการพัฒนานวัตกรรมมุ่งสู่การสร้างสรรค์ผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่จากข้าวที่มีมูลค่าสูงขึ้น ภายใต้แนวคิด “ขายข้าวเป็นกรัม ไม่ขายข้าวเป็นเกวียน” โดยมุ่งเน้นนวัตกรรมใน 3 ด้าน ได้แก่
1. นวัตกรรมข้าวกับสุขภาพ
2. นวัตกรรมข้าวกับยาและความงาม
3. นวัตกรรมข้าวกับความสะดวกสบาย

NIA recognizes the importance of rice for the country development. The main purpose is to enhance the value of rice in commercial term as the high valued added rice and meet the market requirement. NIA has concerned about the direction of innovation development by creating new rice product with high valued added under concept “Rice is sold in grams, not sell in cart”. Focus on 3 fields are as follows:
