สนช. และ สศอ. ได้ร่วมกันจัดตั้งโครงการวิจัยพัฒนาและออกแบบวัสดุอุปกรณ์ทางการแพทย์และสุขภาพขึ้นเพื่อให้อุตสาหกรรมวัสดุอุปกรณ์ทางการแพทย์ไทยได้รับการพัฒนาศักยภาพให้มีขีดความสามารถในการผลิตหรือออกแบบวัสดุอุปกรณ์โดยใช้เทคโนโลยีที่สูงขึ้น และมีรูปแบบที่ทันสมัย เหมาะสมกับผู้ใช้มากขึ้น รวมทั้งมีคุณภาพเป็นที่ยอมรับในวงการแพทย์และได้มาตรฐานสากล ในการดำเนินโครงการนี้ จะคัดเลือกผลิตภัณฑ์ที่สำคัญของประเทศและจัดเป็น 3 กลุ่ม คือ
1.กลุ่มผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่ที่ต้องทำวิจัย พัฒนา และออกแบบผลิตภัณฑ์
2.กลุ่มผลิตภัณฑ์ที่มีการพัฒนาแล้ว และอยู่ในขั้นการทดสอบทางคลินิก
3.กลุ่มผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ต้องการได้รับการรับรองมาตรฐานผลิตภัณฑ์สากล เช่น CE Mark ,UL

Products which have been developed and under the clinical trial phase.
Products which need accreditation of CE Mark or UL certification.
