Application Description
Rated 17+ due to Wikipedia access to articles about ghost towns.
The western United States is teeming with lost history.
Find ghost towns, semi-ghosts, ghost mines, lost cemeteries, post offices, schools and other abandoned places throughout the western United States.
Nearly 4,000 places in the western states, including California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas and Oklahoma.
The large number of abandoned places included was necessary to achieve the level of detail we desired. Not only places accessible via pavement are included. Many of the places are only accessible via dirt roads or trails.
Features include:
Wikipedia articles about many places or a generic web search for others.
Ability to add your own places.
Driving / hiking directions from your current location to a place of interest.
Locations are grouped until a sufficient zoom level is reached. This technique allows a level of detail that is unmatched in other apps.
In many cases you can zoom in satellite mode to see if any ruins are still at the site before going there.
Note: Detailed information is not available when out of cell service area, but all of the places are built into the app and do not require a network connection for downloading.
