The California Standards Tests match the academic content standards for California.

There are various ways to measure academic performance. Although standard tests cannot provide the whole picture for the students' academic performance, it definitely can display the strength and weakness of the students related to specific areas required by the testing.

The debate for standard tests will continue. Some argue it is biased, it is not useful, and it is a waste of resources. However, standard tests are here to stay for the foreseeable future while the debate is going on and we are searching for better alternatives.

If the students are required to take the tests, they had better prepare and ace the tests. If the students perform well in these tests, that will definitely boost their confidence and they will perform better in areas that standard testing does not measure.
