Ever wish you had something to help you navigate through the mine field of theory you have to study when doing a degree in Fine Art?

The Art Theory app has been developed with input from Fine Art lecturers as a study aid for students studying art at university level. It also doubles as a handy reference for lecturers who sometimes need to find information beyond their field of specialism.

Costing less than a pint of beer, The Art Theory app provides offline access to handy bite-sized information about key theorists and philosophers widely cited in relation to art. The aim of the app is not to tell you everything about every theorist, but rather to provide you with enough information so that you can begin to develop a mental map of which theorists are which and how their ideas relate.

The app is divided into four useful sections:

1. DICTIONARY of over fifty of the most commonly referenced theorists
2. THEORISTS BY SUBJECT, good if you know what you're interested in but not sure where to start reading.
3. REFERENCING GUIDE providing information on how to use both the Oxford and Harvard referencing systems
4. ABOUT providing link to app developers website, where you can send comments or questions
