History
Visiting at Angkor area, the best attracted place beside many temples. Angkor looks like big gigantic stone wall that enclosed a group ancient temples area in long line about 20 kilometers. In the past, this greatest wall used to be the square walled of the royal city, built at the end of the 12th century during the reign of greatest King Jayavarman VII, ruled 1181-1219. The King came to power just after the disastrous sacking by the Chams at the previous Khmer capital. The distinctively wall was well-know as Angkor Thom, literally Big Angkor. The Angkor Thom located 1,700m north of Angkor Wat, enter and leave by the south, north or Victory gates.
