The Zalghouta is a physical skill, also known as the act of ululation, that involves the throat and tongue. The result is a high-pitched tongue trill. It is practiced all over the Middle East and some parts of Africa. The Zalghouta is usually performed by women who can hit these high-pitched tones. It is often heard during joyful events such as weddings, graduations ... There are seven different types of Zalghouta, based on the country they originated from: Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Spain and Sudan. You can find all seven of them under the Zalghouta section.

In the special case of weddings, the Zalghouta is often preceeded by a few verses to compliment the bride and the groom. These verses are commonly known as Ewiha. You can find a set of Ewiha for Bride and Groom under the Ewiha section.
