Write Sentences Right began as a tool to help my special needs students understand how to write a complete sentence. The components of the program included a color coded picture dictionary and work sheets. The lessons began with writing a simple sentence of an article, subject and action. After sufficient practice, students were guided to write more complex sentences. Most of my students were able to write a complete sentence on their own by the end of the school term. The revised edition of Write Sentences Right permits the student to create a sentence without having to write it. I asked my then 10 year old grandson to record every word. Therefore, the student can hear each word stated, and decide if his or her choice of words produces a sentence that makes sense. The original worksheets are included for the students to copy the sentence from the computer screen. A side benefit of this program could be an increase in the student’s reading recognition.
