Application Description

This app is a port of our existing WinPilot app for another platform - see Winpilot.com for details. Its purpose is to aid glider pilots in making strategic decisions related to preparation of a flight, its execution, and after the flight analysis.
This particular version contains aviation related data and will work only in the following US States: AZ, CA, CO, ID, KS, MT, NV, NM, OR, UT, WA, and WY.
It can be run in the GPS mode with gps location supplied by the iPhone, or in the Simulator mode with location generated by the simulator.

Added Visual Task Editing. Now, a task can be created by touching any place on the map.
A new waypoint can be inserted into a task by tapping the task line on the map.
Also, the GoTo function can be engaged to any place on the map. See User's Manual on our web site.

Added Support for Area Tasks, Daec, turnpoint control Zones, as well as start and finish lines. To see it, go to Task page, create Task 0, and click on a turnpoint which zone you want to modify.

Added 'Import File From Email Message' functionality.
Instead of using iTunes to copy files, pilots can just email them to the iPad and click on the file's icon in the email message.

The following file types are supported:
1. SUA Files - extension .air
2. Waypoint files - extension .dat
3. Polar files - extension .plr (custom Polar files can be seen in Settings.Polar)
4. Tile zip files - extension .zip
5. Task File - WPTasks.xml
6. IGC log files
7. Settings File - WARNING: this should be used only when WinPilot shuts down before it starts. Importing WPSettings file from an email message will replace the existing settings file, and hopefully cure the problem - WPSettings.xml

Added Final Glide Around All waypoints of a task. Now, when a task is active, the Chevrons on the main map screen show final glide to the last waypoint through all remaining waypoints of Task 0.
The background color of the Chevron Turnpoint label turns green to show this state.

The 2013 version of WinPilot allows displaying tiles in Mercator projection as the base underlying map, instead of the vector map known from previous builds.
WinPilot itself does NOT download tiles from the Internet. The pilot can provide his own tiles from any available source, as long as they use Mercator projection, and follow the industry standard of addressing tiles that is used by the main suppliers of online tile maps.
