The Whitecourt Family Violence Initiative (FVI), which started in 2004, has a mandate that it is necessary to reduce the incidence of family violence through awareness, support, referral, and intervention. The mission statement of the Initiative is simply: FAMILY VIOLENCE IS UNACCEPTABLE - TOGETHER WE MUST WORK TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE! There are many agencies involved in the Initiative including Wellspring Family Resource and Crisis Center, Alberta Health Services: Addiction, LSAF, Probation, Living Waters School Division, Northern Gateway School Division, North Central Alberta CFSA # 7, McMan Youth Services, Town of Whitecourt and the RCMP.
