Application Description
WebcomiX is a brand new web comic reader for the iPod/iPhone/iPad. There are a number of others out there but WebcomiX has several MAJOR advantages over them.
It contains a collection of 55 of the most popular web comics which you can "subscribe" to. This puts them in your Library screen and whenever you run the app, it tells you if there are any new episodes.
1) You have a choice of reading comics fro where you left off or getting the latest episode. If the comic is a series of "stand alone" episodes then it will always show you the latest. If it is a continuing story, then it will let you continue where you left off. No more reading the story backwards.
2) It has a simple interface. It has buttons for Previous/Next, First/Last, Random and goto. These work for all the comics so no more hunting around for the correct button on screen. The interface can even be minimised to allow more comic on screen.
3) The Previous/Next, First/Last buttons will let you go from start to end or end to start, an episode at a time. The app knows how to work get every episode.
4) If a comic uses "Alt Text" then there is a button to bring up that text. This is only visible on comics that use it.
5) It comes with 55 of the most popular web comics ready loaded, with more will be added with each update.
6) The Titles screen lists all the comics sortable by name or genre. Another allows you to choose your favourite comics for easy access.
7) iPhone/iPod now has option to zoom into a comic when viewed. This can be turned on or off with the iOS settings app.
8) Its free!!!
At the moment the list of comics includes (in no particular order) XKCD, Diesel Sweeties, Dinosaur Comic, Johnny Wander, Questionable Content, Megatokyo, Loading Artist, Quantum Vibe, Girls With Slingshots, White Ninja, Penny Arcade, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Girl Genius, Sinfest, Grrl Power, Candi, The Adventures of Dr. McNinja, Scenes from a Multiverse, Supernormal Step, A Girl and Her Fed, Looking For Group, Nuklear Power, Cyanide & Happiness, Tom the Dancing Bug, PvP, Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal, Little Gamers, A Softer World, Buttersafe, Commissioned and El Goonish Shive. There should be something for everyone in there.
