Walk and Fork is an exciting app for anyone who wants to get out there and enjoy the English countryside. Not only does it show over 5,000 designated natural areas across the country – from National Parks to Local Nature Reserves – it also shows you the nearest watering holes to get a coffee or a pub lunch while out and about.

Search on your current location or an area you may be visiting on holiday. Zoom in to find the nearest natural areas and click to get a detailed boundary map, information about the area and the nearest places for food and drink. View details of each place of refreshment including photos and customer reviews. A single click links you directly to the pub or cafe websites or directions to the place from either your current location or the natural area.

Designated areas included are Special Sites of Scientific Interest (SSSI), National Parks (NP), National Nature Reserves (NNR), Local Nature Reserves (LNR), National Trails, Country Parks, Heritage Coasts and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Every site has associated content to tell you more about the designation and the natural features which make it special.

As well as this already huge resource, the app contains regional overview maps of the larger designated areas within each region and the latest countryside news and events. For added enjoyment the app provides illustrated information on select species and habitats you might come across while exploring these wonderful natural areas.
