Would decisions improve, if the effects of perception on judgment were transparent and manageable? Outcomes and consequences are always uncertain. Doubt and supressed feelings often cause faulty judgment.

The process of perception sometimes follows patterns that lead to better or worse outcomes. The simple "perception model" explained in the web pages describes some fundamental "mental processes":

1. Emotional
2. Social
3. Aesthetic
4. Ethical
5. Rational
Each of the above "mental processes" is simply a list of subject tags from the US Library of Congress (LOC). For example, the "Mental states" category contains 62 subject tags for subjects such as: Anger, Depression, Fear, Happiness, Love, Optimism, Pessimism, etc.... The LOC Thesaurus for Graphic Media (TGM) tag system consists of over 7,000 tags used by librarians to tag over 1 million royalty-free, public domain, LOC website pictures.

You can take advantage of the TGM classification system to assign subject tags to personal or LOC pictures.

The judgment score is the average of all ratings -- adjusted for perception. Sound judgments score closer to 5, on a scale from 1 to 5.

One of Bill Clinton's favorite books, "The Meditations", of Marcus Aurelius, serves as a great example you can download. The online book is indexed by over 100 subjects, linked to website pictures. You can do the same thing for any book or website, e.g., Wikipedia. When you want to remind yourself how Aurelius dealt with a certain subject, like Anger, simply tap on the Anger index or picture(s) to view the sections of the book providing advice on Anger.

Marcus Aurelius was a Roman Emperor who revealed his secrets in "The Meditations". According to wikipedia:
1. A central theme to "Meditations" is to analyze your judgement of self and others.
2. Another strong theme is of maintaining focus and to be without distraction all the while maintaining strong ethical principles such as "Being a good man".
3. He claims that the only way a man can be harmed by others is to allow his reaction to overpower him.
4. Rationality and clear-mindedness allow one to live in harmony with the universe.
** This allows one to rise above faulty perceptions of "good" and "bad".

Download the examples to compare Marcus Aurelius with historical US President Lincoln or FDR.

Psychology theory indicates perception can be an automatic or effortful process. The app allows you to create any model that reflects your nature, or the nature of others. The app is flexible and provides full support for over 7,000 US Library of Congress TGM subject tags.
