The Red Cedar and Chippewa River Trails are open throughout the year for a variety of outdoor activities. In the warmer months, many enjoy walking, biking, and skating on the trails, and once snow falls, the Chippewa River Trail is used for snowmobiling while the Red Cedar Trail is groomed for cross-country skiing. Trail passes for biking, cross-country skiing and in-line skating are required for everyone 16 years and older on the state portion of the Chippewa River Trail and all of the Red Cedar State Trail.

The Chippewa Valley is home to a variety of sports complexes, ranging from large multi-purpose and collegiate facilities to smaller soccer parks and little league baseball fields. The Chippewa Valley also boasts two major universities and one of Wisconsin’s biggest technical colleges; its public schools are ranked among the best in the state.
