UP2CODE is an easy way for San Francisco residents to report and track non-emergency code enforcement issues to the Office of the City Attorney. Residents can be proactive by using the app to collaborate with the San Francisco City Attorney's Office in improving their neighborhoods. Together we can make San Francisco a safe and beautiful place to live, work, and play!

What is Code Enforcement?

The San Francisco City Attorney's Office coordinates the efforts of the Building Inspection, Health, Planning, Public Works, Fire, and Police Departments to identify and respond effectively to health and safety threats or other public nuisance issues in San Francisco's neighborhoods. City codes exist as both preventive and regulatory ways to protect the character and integrity of San Francisco's neighborhoods, as well as the health and safety of its citizens. The San Francisco City Attorney's Office engages in proactive community outreach to educate residents and business owners about their rights and responsibilities.

Why Enforce City Codes?

When a code violation is reported, the Code Enforcement Team at the San Francisco City Attorney's Office responds by coordinating the investigation and abatement process and, when necessary, pursuing additional remedies against violators through court action. This function of city government is an integral part of making San Francisco a safe and beautiful place to live, work, and play!
