Trustbox is an easy-to-use mobile scanning application. By scanning or key-entering the barcode of a product the application will show all relevant product information (ingredients, nutritional information, and warn the user about the presence of allergenic substances).

The core innovation offered by the Trustbox app is the reliability of the product information! All data presented to the user is entered and/or validated by the actual product or brand responsible. This means the users can trust the information offered to them.

GS1 is currently developing an international network of Trusted databases where product responsibles can enter and/or validate their product data. If a product is not available via the Trustbox app this means the brand responsible has not yet entered and/or validated his data in the database.

Since this project is still in a start-up phase, it’s possible that currently not a lot of products show a result. GS1 is working hard to raise the awareness of their solution among brands and brand responsible to enter and/or validate their product information so the app will have a more complete set of product information.
