Tornado GPS™ is the first app that can estimate the time and distance between you and any severe weather warning.

Some apps only notify you when you're directly inside of a warning. We feel that's way too late. Especially if you're travelling.

This information is displayed at the bottom of the app in miles, minutes and kilometers.

This is also important if you're at home. In some cases, a Tornado warning might actually miss you by only a few houses but with Tornado GPS™, you'll receive a notification with the estimated distance and time.

(Notifications are still being developed further to include banners shortly).

In the United States, Tornado warnings are small and focused directly around the Tornado. In Canada, Tornado warnings are up to 70% larger because they're still warned by the county.

Because of this, Tornado GPS™ is planning an upgrade to compare your location to any Tornado activity! This includes funnel cloud reports, damage reports and advanced technologies like Tornado Markers (TVS) or Rotation Markers (MESO).

These technologies have been available for years but unless you're a Meteorologist or a Storm Chaser, they can be quite confusing.

Tornado GPS™ changes this by doing all of the hard work for you.


3D Radar:

We've also included the first ever, mobile 3D Radar!

Now you'll be able to fly right into the eye of a Tornado or Hurricane in real-time and see the areas that the storm is impacting.

We're currently displaying 35dbz which represents the structure of most strong storms but eventually we'll be including all sorts of variables including velocity (wind) radar, etc, etc. :)


2D Radar:

We've currently included a 2D mosaic radar from Nexrad stations that's optimized for globe type usage but we'll be adding Super resolution radar products from each radar station shortly. We'll also be expanding the mosaic much further into Canada than any other weather source using hybrid technologies.


Accurate Forecasts:

We also plan on adding the incredibly accurate Tornado and severe weather forecasts from the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma.

Their brilliant Meteorologists have proven time and time again that they're very accurate at forecasting Tornadoes and severe weather.

For example, they gave 5 days notice to Ontario before the Damaging Wind Outbreak and multiple Tornado event that happened on July 19th, 2013.

And 5 days notice to Oklahoma before the City of Moore was tragically destroyed on May 20th, 2013.

Tornado GPS™ is now the first app that will compare your GPS location to these amazingly accurate forecasts and in some cases, you'll be notified up to eight days in advance of a potential Tornado Outbreak.

For Canadian users and those who are close to the Canadian border, we'll also notify you of any severe forecasts from Environment Canada.

Facebook Community:

And last but not least, we've included instant access to our 80 community 'Tornado Watch' and 'Blizzard Watch' Facebook pages.

These are accessible through Facebook but we're planning on adding the Facebook updates right into the app.

Even if you're not on Facebook, you'll soon be able to receive updates about reported funnel clouds or damage from anyone in your area by using Tornado GPS™!
