Following the Titanic app that recaptured the first week of press coverage in New York this app focuses on the area around Titanic’s departure harbour in South England and the regional press reaction to one of the deadliest maritime disasters in history. Original issues from April 1912 have been carefully scanned and professionally converted using state-of-the-art OCR and top-level structure analysis software. The additional meta data from this conversion not only provides you with a convenient keyword search, but also enables a dynamic table of contents that takes you directly to the highlighted articles. Combined with a thumbnail preview of all pages and the table-typical gesture control, this app is truly something special for people who literally want to get in touch with digital publications.
