Application Description
Find any Tesco in the UK then, once inside, find any grocery product on any shelf - and now,build a product list and 'satnav' your way round a Tesco store without needing any network connection!
Note for upgrading users:
If you downloaded our app before updating to the latest version of iOS for your iPhone, our updated app will crash. To get round this problem, you need to sync your iPhone (unless you want to download the app again), then delete the app off your iPhone, shutdown and restart your iPhone, and re-sync or re-download the app. This way the app will rebuild the data store compatible with your iPhone. Our apologies for having to get you to do this. It results from the latest Apple iOS having a data store which does not appear to be fully backward compatible.
Note for existing users: If you wish to delete an item from a shopping list, or delete an entire empty shopping list, just swipe your finger from left to right across the item / list name then tap the 'delete' button that appears.
For years we have helped our amazing team of personal shoppers to quickly find products our Tesco.com online customers have ordered. We've done it by working with Tesco 'merchandising' colleagues who plan the layout and location of every product in every store.
Now for the first time, the Tesco.com research and development team is making this information available to you so that you can find any grocery product at any UK Tesco store, as long as it is bigger than 'Express' sized.
The database is several gigabytes in size - way too big to download - so Tesco Finder requires a continuously available internet connection through Wifi or cellular data link so it can get its information from our servers as you use it when building a shopping list. However a great new feature of v2.00 allows you to choose a store - and your products will be grouped by their aisle location in that store so you can quickly 'satnav' your way around the store without a network connection.
We'll be adding more features to the application from time to time as we listen to your feedback.
The Tesco.com R&D (Research and Development) team has the remit to use technology and innovation to help customers get the most from Tesco. This application, data and server services were built by Tesco.com's in-house developers Tom Courthold and Mike Brearley, and R&D head Nick Lansley.
