Taranga

Taranga is a musical tuner designed for Indian Classical Music. It can be used for Carnatic and Hindustani styles of music for voice training as well as tuning musical instruments.

Taranga can be used by flute players to practice correct blowing strength to produce accurate swaras.

Violin, Mridangam, Tabla, Veena, Guitar and many other tunable instruments can be tuned with the help of Taranga to produce accurate sound pitch.

Taranga uses relative scale where position of tonic note 'Sa' is selectable by user. Taranga uses A=440 convention to calibrate itself. Taranga uses symbols S R1 R2 G2 G3 M1 M2 P D1 D2 N2 N3 to represent 12 sruthis in an octave.

Using Taranga is simple

- Set the tonic note/base pitch using +/- buttons (This is where your 'Sa' will be positioned).

- Sing, hum or play the swara you want to tune. Taranga will keep listening continuously and display the note/swara it detects.

Few things to remember

- Following convention is used for naming position of tonic note 'Sa' :

C = 1
C# = 1.5
D = 2
D# = 2.5
E = 3
F = 4
