Being swooped by birds is a frightening experience; however, not all native birds swoop in order to protect their nests during the breeding season. Know your local swooping hotspots and keep informed about recreation parks, schools, and cycling and running paths in your local area by viewing our magpie swooping map. View the map in real time with our GPS capability, while having exact locations pin-pointed within a 10 km radius of your location.

Swoop sites are shown on the map as green pins: simply tap on them to reveal the location, date recorded, and the reporter's comments. To record a new swooping site, simply select the 'report a sighting' tab. You'll need to verify the location address, date, and input your comments on the swoop - first time users will be asked to input their email address for verification purposes (this data will be recorded and not made public).

Notify others - knowledge is the best defence. Being aware of swooping sites can help us avoid them, or take necessary precautions if we do venture into magpie territory. That's why we have created this app.
