Heard of the 4 D's? Drink water, Deep breathe, Delay, Do something else. This is what people stopping smoking are often advised to do. Stub It Out is a game - a fun distraction, time out, something else to do when you start thinking about having a cigarette.

Vent your stress by stubbing out cigarettes and sweep the butts away before you choke on the smoke! Keep an eye out for the stop smoking aids, they'll help you beat the nicotine addiction.

Stub It Out was created to support competitors in WERO: a group stop smoking contest (www.wero.me).

Give it a go and if at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again. Kia kaha! Stay strong!

WERO is a stop smoking intervention designed by the University of Auckland's WERO study team: Dr Marewa Glover, Dr Anette Kira and Nathan Cowie of the Centre for Tobacco Control Research, with Dr Chris Paton of the University of Auckland's National Institute of Health Innovation. Stub It Out has been created with help from Debra Warren, National Institute of Health Innovation Programmer; Laura Wilson, Graphics, and Timi Hawea, Sounds.

The WERO study is being undertaken as part of New Zealand's Tobacco Control Research Turanga (www.turanga.org.nz) funded by the Reducing Tobacco-related Harm Research Partnership co-funded by the Health Research Council of New Zealand and the Ministry of Health.
