With the increase of globalization and commercial importance of china, learning Chinese will give you an edge in your career. Especially for young kids, starting to learn Chinese at early stage of life will place you ahead of the game from very beginning. "Starter Chinese" app give you the perfect tool to achieve that.
"Starter Chinese" is a flash card chinese learning tool for beginners, especially young children. It teaches both the sound of a word in Chinese and the written form of the word in Chinese.
"Starter Chinese" has a collection of 68 common daily words. It shows real life pictures of the objects instead of cartoon images. All the pictures are carefully selected to be general representation of the objects. Avoiding extreme examples of the object.
At the beginning of the game, you can choose to play all the words, play first 20 words or play first 40 words. When a word is playing, you can bookmark the word by press the "bookmark" button. Later you can play only the bookmarked words. In this way you can focus on a small group of words you are interested in and control your pace of learning. You can remove a word from the bookmarked group by simply press the "unbookmark" button at the bottom of the screen.
For each word, whenever a picture of an object is shown, first the English name of the object is spoken, at meantime the English word's written form at the top left of the screen will enlarge in red color to attract user's attention. Then the Chinese name of the object is spoken with the Chinese word in written form at the top right of the screen enlarges in red color. This is designed to help you to associate the sound of the word with the written form of the word.
If you want to listen to the English word or Chinese word again, you can simply touch the English word or Chinese word at the top of the screen. The word will be spoken again with larger size and red color. This process can be repeated as many times as you want.
You can proceed to the next word by simply touching the picture itself or the "right arrow" symbol below the picture. You can go back to the previous word by touching the "left arrow" symbol below the picture. The dynamic rotate of the picture with switching sound when move to previous or next word can attract young children's attention.
