Application Description
SpeedMinder exists to audibly warn you when you are exceeding your speed limits.
It can audibly alert you when approaching regular Police Speed Trap locations.

It can also audibly alert you at TurnMinder signs which you place near turns that you may forget or are hard to see in the dark.
If you are like a lot of people, you receive most of your speeding tickets in areas you regularly drive. So most of your risk of getting a ticket can be alleviated by manually storing, one time only, a few speed limit sign locations in a database and then by monitoring when you drive past them. SpeedMinder does just that.
To add a sign while driving, simply SWIPE LEFT or RIGHT on the main screen map, TOUCH or SAY what the NEW SPEED limit is and then SWIPE UP in the large green that appears to store the sign.
Swiping RIGHT adds a VIRTUAL sign which should be added any place the speed limit changes but there is no speed limit sign actually there. This happens a lot, mostly at intersections where the cross road is a different limit. There is no real distinction in the warnings you receive between a real or a virtual sign, they just show up differently on the Map.
When you approach a sign that changes your speed limit, you will hear a friendly voice tell you what speed to accelerate or decelerate to based on the OK Over setting you have set for the new speed limit.
There are many settings that allow you to hear only certain SpeedMinder warnings, so if you only want to know when you are speeding, just change your settings.
Each user has an OK Over table based upon their personal preferences for each possible speed limit. The default OK Over table is set at an OK Over of 5 mph for all speed limits.
You will also be audibly warned when you are speeding with a police siren sound which gets louder the more you are above your 'OK Over'. You can set the sound level of the siren for the 1 mph over level. We find it best to have the 1 over siren volume level such that you can notice the sound but it is not annoying. While you are there you can also adjust SpeedMinders Master volume and the volume for speed sensitive warnings.
SpeedMinder handles special speed limit signs too. Not only Time of Day limits but night limits, truck limits, weekday, Time of Year and more.
SpeedMinder plays all audible warnings while listening to music in a 'mix' mode where you can hear both music and warnings (works even with earbuds).
While you are on the phone, SpeedMinder only plays a fixed siren sound when you are speeding.
SpeedMinder uses many features to preserve battery yet still providing you with speeding warnings whether the App is on the screen or not. However, continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life so you should put your phone on charge in the car. Use either a USB cigarette plug with a normal charge cord or an in-car charging cradle for your phone. Good ones can be purchased for $15-$30.
The most effective way to increase battery life is to disable SpeedMinder while you are not driving. Do this by TRIPLE tapping the speaker icon. If the screen is ORANGE you are still using significant power with the GPS searching for better skys.
When you get back in the car, simply navigate to the SpeedMinder launch icon and tap on it. SpeedMinder will enable itself and try to find good skys to remove the orange screen.
If you are indoors and you forgot to disable SpeedMinder, you will likely hear your phone purr and boing while it goes in and out of GPS service. This reminds you to TRIPLE click in SpeedMinder to disable it.
