Sonic Babylon is spanning the world with interactive gardens of sound, bringing the music, sounds, and stories of each locale's past and present into the future, and allowing networked visitors access to a world beyond the world they see.

Riding local Wi-Fi networks, each garden hangs invisibly in the air and may be both heard and shaped by visitors on their mobile devices as they pass through. The ambience of each garden is not only unique, but alters and grows over time, shaped by continued public interaction.

As visitors move through this actual and virtual space, the Sonic Babylon 3D audio gaming engine generates a real-time sound mix relative to the location of the planted sounds. Within each garden, the sound is shaped by the contours of the physical environment as well as by the cultural landscape, with the audience both receiving and changing the sonic environment as they go.
