The "SMART-CARP - Rock Art Smart Territories" Project aims to modernize and renew the cultural diffusion of Prehistoric Rock Art in rural areas, through the design and development of ICT tools based on touristic resources LOCATION and dissemination technology for mobile devices.
Prehistoric Art in Spain has a great archaeological and cultural significance, as shown by the large number of archaeological sites with open visits (more than a hundred, all located in rural areas), and the concentration of rock art sites with the “UNESCO World Heritage Site” statement: Altamira and other caves of the Cantabrian Region, Levantine Rock Art of the Mediterranean Basin, Siega Verde (along with Foz Coa in Portugal).
This Project is promoted and managed by the International Association “Caminos del Arte Rupestre Prehistórico” (IACARP), coordinator as well of the Cultural Route of the Council of Europe "Prehistoric Rock Art Trails" (ICE-CARP). The Project is funded by Gobierno de España through the Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte
