Application Description
Skin Calculator “This application aims to guide the plastic surgeon in choosing the number, shape and volume of skin expanders needed to obtain a given (ASF) area of skin flap to be used in a plastic reconstructive surgery. The information provided is the area of flap gain, from which has been subtracted the retraction of the skin and dog ear (20%) and also the skin required to cover the site where the expander was implanted.”
This complete version is for the ROUND, RECTANGULAR and CRESCENT skin expander.
The application has two functions CHOOSE SKIN EXPANDER and CALCULATE SKIN GAIN.
The function CHOOSE SKIN EXPANDER, asks for the size of the site to be reconstructed (in centimeters or inches), and gives back two choices of quantity, size and shape of skin expanders to be used.
The function CALCULATE SKIN GAIN allows to know the area of skin gain using a given skin expander when a certain volume of liquid is infiltrated.
Restriction: The proposed calculations are useful when the expansion is performed over rigid or semi-rigid substrate.
