Coordinated by ITgreen - Innovation and Sustainability initiative of Porto Digital facing the promotion of information technology for environmental development, the SIREE aims to promote debate on the management of waste electrical and electronic equipment, disseminate best practices for managing a more sustainable ICT and propose actions for environmental awareness with the participation of local businesses, civil society, private and public representations.

The 2013 schedule will feature SIREE activities that take place before and during the event, like workshops metarecycling/robotics, campaign for receiving and recycling WEEE, lectures, roundtables, presentations of scientific articles, competitions and startups, among others.

SIREE 2013 happens on the pre-carnival week and gives the opportunity to all participants to enjoy / try a little of the multicultural carnival of Pernambuco. During the week pre-carnival, the Bairro do Recife and Olinda offers many free attractions to the public.

The first edition, organized in February 2011, occurred shortly after the creation of the National Solid Waste Policy - PNRS (Law 12305, August 2010), a moment that marked the beginning of the discussions on the management of waste electrical and electronic equipment in Brazil . Since then, the SIREE event has emerged as a pioneer in the industry, bringing to debate issues of great relevance to the economic, social and environmental development of the cities, not only in Brazil but also in different regions of the world, impacted by rapidity of technological innovations.
