Schedule Me is a fast people scheduler. It allows you to quickly create calendar appointments from your iPhone/iPod Touch contacts.

In a few taps you can create an event or birthday reminder based on one of your contacts and have it placed on your default calendar. Shake the iPhone or iPod to clear the last entry.

For birthdays, two reminders will be created: one week in advance, and one day in advance. In addition, the contact will be updated with a "Birthday" field in addition to the calendar reminder.

Note: birthdays will appear twice on the calendar: as an editable reminder which you can change as needed, and a fixed entry associated with the contact. To change the latter, do so from the contacts entry.
