Within Sailor’s Toolbox the skipper/navigator can easily calculate the course conversion problem from course over ground to magnetic course and vice versa with respect to deviation, magnetic variation, wind set and current drift. Wind set (leeway angle) is either estimated by an approximation or considered by your vessel’s empiric data. The current/tide vector is calculated from your actual boat’s course, speed and stream data. For best visualization of the stream drift effect a graphical representation of the current vector triangle will be displayed. This is very helpful in skipper education. Furthermore Sailor’s Toolbox calculates distance to lights in visible horizon from fire heights, elevation angles, distance/speed/time with ETA. The app converts diverse time zones and assists the skipper in calculations with angles and times and also converts degree/minute/second DMS into degree/minute DM (decimal) format.
