If you know what ADS-B means then this universal app for iPhone and iPad might be really useful for you!
It shows airplanes in close vicinity using data provided by server application running on desktop computer. Bonjour and Wi-Fi are used to establish connection between client and server. You will also need a receiver and antenna with good sensitivity on frequency 1090MHz.
Inside mobile app you can either see list of airplanes with ICAO airframe code, altitude, flight or tail number, speed for each of them or monitor airplanes on realtime map. For selected airplane it's possible to obtain additional information about particular flight or airframe. As a bonus there are 2 additional layers available for map: airports and image from Doppler radar. RealADSB also allows to record a session and replay it later on. One such session marked as a Demo is available immediately after installation of the app.
