Application Description
Features:
-Designed to be integrated into a weekly practice schedule.
-Fun for students to practice daily.
-Easy for busy teachers to incorporate into lessons. A special assessment day which takes less than 5 minutes of lesson time allows the teacher to observe the student's
progress each week.
Daily lesson plans consists of:
-Warm-up exercises to train memory, vision and touch.
-ReadAhead exercises to train students to read ahead of where they are playing.
-Sight-reading music from a fixed score to pull it all together.
This version of Read Ahead includes the first two weeks of level 1 (Early Beginner level) and asks the user to provide feedback that will help us to improve and further development of the app. The next version of Read Ahead will have six levels of difficulty, from beginning to advanced, with four weeks of exercises and repertoire at each level.
Read Ahead is being developed with a grant from the Maryland Innovation Initiative by professors Travis Hardaway and Ken Johansen at the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University.
