Application Description
Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust would love to see women ‘Put themselves in the picture’ on cervical cancer by adding a selfie to a personalised picture frame and pledging to take up their cervical screening invitation, working together to prevent cervical cancer.
To get involved, simply take a selfie on your mobile, select a frame style and position your picture in the frame. Once created, you can upload your picture to the Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust gallery and let your friends and family know you have put yourself in the picture on cervical screening.
You can also make a pledge to attend cervical screening to help reduce your risk of developing cervical cancer and pledge to put your friends and family in the picture on cervical screening.
Cervical screenings (smear tests) save 5,000 lives a year, yet one in five women who are eligible for screening do not take up their invitation and for young women aged 25-29 this rises to one in three. Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women under 35, however it is largely preventable thanks to the NHS cervical screening and human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination programme.

Tips for attending a cervical screening:
•First time or nervous? Tell the sample taker.
•Worried about discomfort? Ask the sample taker to use a smaller speculum.
•Feeling embarrassed? Wear a skirt as you can keep this on during the test.
•Try to relax and distract your mind.
•Don’t want to go alone? Take a friend to wait in the waiting room with you.
