Application Description
PrecisionEarth is an iOS based application for quickly collecting field boundaries and GPS located grid, zone/region, and field soil samples overlain on rasters and in the field on iPads and iPhones.
Never has it been so easy and inexpensive to collect repeatable soil sample information. Forget paper maps - take your digital information into the field in your hand, so you can see firsthand the what, why and where.
Free PrecisionEarth enables you to digitize fields and track them by associating them with a Grower and a Farm. PrecisionEarth’s App features include:
- Create and edit Growers
- Create and edit Farms - Associate a Farm with a Grower
- Create fields by collecting them using your device’s integrated location service or Apple approved GPS - Associate a Field with a Farm
- Create void areas in fields by using your device's integrated location service or Apple approved GPS.
- Collect samples using the grid, zone or free collection methods with single sample or composite sampling.
- Collect using unique bag ids per grid/zone, multiple bags with same id per grid/zone, or multiple bags with unique ids per grid/zone.
- Create grids in size from 1 to 10 acres, or a custom rectangular size. The intial samplling points are generated at the same time for each grid. The grids extend to the edges of the Field defined. Fully supports gridded sample collection method.
- Collect and track samples - by year. The sampling points are recorded at the location the sample is taken. Bag ids are recorded at the collection point as well. You have full control of defining the bag ids.
Activated PrecisionEarth’s App adds features:
- Import CSV soil analysis results for grid collections and display the results in PrecisionEarth
- Import shapefiles (directed samples, regions/zones, fields, etc.) and raster data (harvest yield, GVI, Veris, etc.).
- Use the free LocalConnect application to prepare data for use by PrecisionEarth.
- Use existing shapefile data for generating a new Field and/or zone and viewing previously collected sample points (directed sampling) to use as a reference while using your device in the field to collect this year's samples.
- Export Field boundary and Collection Data (points and bag ids) as shapefiles. These are readily transferred to your computer as shapefiles in a zip archive. The polygon and point shapefiles are ready to be used by other GIS applications.
