In early 2012, a 9-year-old boy was diagnosed with leukemia. Despite the news the doctors provided, the family chose not to focus on the negative possibilities of the situation. They believed that with positive thoughts and the power of prayer their son would be healed. While in the hospital undergoing treatment, family and friends all over the world were praying for his recovery. To help boost the young boy's morale, his parents decided to create his own personal “prayer map” to track where everyone was praying for him. This prayer map consisted of large-scale wall maps of the seven continents. Every time someone new prayed for him, his parents would mark the location of the individual praying on his map. In a matter of days, he had hundreds of prayers throughout the entire world located on the map. Thus, the idea for PrayerMap was born.
