Application Description
The Playmatic is the best first app for babies and toddlers. It is extremely simple by design — there are no settings, no buttons that can take kids out of the game, and nothing that can unintentionally spoil your baby's fun.
There are currently three fun little games in The Playmatic, and the first two are included for free!
"Magic Wand" lets kids create magical sparkling puffs of color by touching the screen. Each puff is accompanied by a piano note. As one user, "Mado's Mom", noted in her review in the iTunes Store, even the smallest children can enjoy this level: "My baby loves The Playmatic, especially the music and light game (Magic Wand)! He can stare at the screen for a long time (he's three month's old) … we love this app!"
"Bubble Bath" is a classic bubble-popping game with beautifully rendered bubbles and fun popping sound effects. Kids love this one, and more than one adult has also found that popping the bubbles can be therapeutic and stress relieving. ;-)
"Hot Air Balloons" is available as an inexpensive in-app upgrade. It features 50 colorful hot air balloons that float upwards past trees, mountains, clouds, sun, stars, and sky. Each time a balloon is tapped a skydiver jumps out of the balloon and floats to the ground, but be careful because if you tap a balloon too many times it will pop! This level was tested extensively on a precocious two year-old who laughed hilariously each time he made a balloon pop.

One of our favorites is from a developmental therapist who wrote us to say: "I use The Playmatic to teach cause and effect, to help my visually impaired kids with visual tracking, and as a motivator for gross-motor skills with my developmentally delayed babies and toddlers. I have a medically frail child who absolutely loves the Magic Wand game and will sit independently for short periods to interact with it and roll over to reach up for it. The kids I work with are ages 0-3, and they have differing levels of developmental delay."
