Our app, PlaceProps, lets you annotate places on a map (“drop Props”) to remember people and places that matter personally to you.

As part of the app registration process or in “Settings,” you can also now opt in to a pay-you feature – PlaceProps+. Thanks to the participation of people like you, PP+ measures the audience of passersby and visitors for places in the physical world. It operates in the background on your smartphone. The service is currently launching in Seattle but heading to cities across America, so it will be about the places that matter to all of us.

As for the app itself – drop a Prop with images and text on a map to recall the name of the barista at your local coffee shop, or to save the locations of stores friends recommend visiting while traveling. Use PlaceProps to show friends where to meet for a hike or for dinner before a game - even if they don't have the PlaceProps app.

You can:
- Drop a Prop where you are or at another location 

- Take a photo to attach to your Prop, or attach an existing image 

- Record multiple people in a Prop, including their names, jobs, hometowns, and birthdays 

- Add notes in the Prop to remind yourself about what makes the place and its people important to you 

- Retrieve Props from the map or from a list sorted by distance from your current location, or search by Prop name 

- Navigate to a Prop's location with Apple Maps 

- Swap Props with friends or colleagues via e-mail or SMS 

- View and manage your Props at PlaceProps.com

Note: for PlaceProps+ users, you should know according to Apple that “continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.” We’ve taken steps to minimize this effect though, and we welcome your feedback if you notice any decrease in your device’s battery performance.
