Application Description
PingPal is a convenient app for checking the whereabouts of friends and family when you are out there.
You have a list of friends that you accept being pinged by and they accept to be pinged. You send the ping. Your pal’s app receives the ping and notifies the user. After approval the phone checks its position through GPS, WiFi positioning etc, and returns its position in a reply. Everything displayed on a map for you.
YOUR LOCATION IS YOUR BUSINESS
Sharing your location might be sensitive. Or you just might think that where you are is your business only. And we at PingPal do agree. Where you are is your business. But sometimes you do want to share your location with someone, but only with this specific person or group of persons. It might be a friend or spouse, or the friends you are back-country skiing with, or the group of people you have joined for a mountain hike.
With PingPal your location is not known to everyone that happens to be friends with you on a social media network. You decide who, when and where someone will be allowed to ask for your whereabouts.
SHARING LOCATION ONLY WHEN ASKED FOR
PingPal doesn’t send your location constantly. It isn’t stored anywhere where someone can track your movements. PingPal is a dialog between you and your Pals. You want to know where someone is, and then you just ask his or her phone where they are. And vice versa, if you are the one that is missing than your Pal can find you.
LEAN
Lowest possible requirement on data bandwidth coverage. No constant location sending. PingPal saves battery since the GPS is only activated and data transferred when you are pinged
