2003년 대학동기이자 음악적 동료였던 Sayo와 Noshel이 결성했다. 1년여의 데모작업 후, 2004년 눈부신 6곡이 담긴 데뷔 EP <A Preview> 한 장으로 그 해의 가장 주목받는 신인으로 급부상한 ‘페퍼톤스(Peppertones)'. “21st Century Magic”이 보여주었던 그 한없는 발랄함으로 음악팬들에게 전례없이 상쾌하고 신선한 사운드 메이커로서의 그들을 각인시켰다.
미디어와 팬들의 관심 속에 싱글발표와 컴필앨범 참여로만 앨범의 행보를 암시하던 이들이 첫 정규앨범 <컬러플 익스프레스(Colorful Express)>에 이어 2008년의 봄에 어울릴 BGM 두 번째 앨범을 발매했다. 그것도 무려 14곡이나 담긴! <New Standard>라는 단단하고 대범한 제목을 내건 이번 앨범의 에너지는 어느 때보다 여유롭고 긍정적이다. 데뷔 후 불과 4년만에 ‘페퍼톤스 사운드’라고 부를만한 어떤 것을 대중들에게 전달하고 있다. 그럼에도 이들의 사운드는 언제나 예상했던 것보다 한 발짝 더 상쾌하고 선명하다. 이번 앨범은 그러한 ‘상쾌한 순간’의 사운드를 완성하고 여유로운 드라이브를 즐기는 듯, 시원시원한 느낌이 살아 있다. 뭐랄까, 자신들의 드라이브에 틀어놓을 음악을 직접 만든 느낌이랄까? 셀프 믹싱과 마스터링까지 도맡으며 사운드에 공을 들인 결과 하나의 음악처럼 이어지면서도 특색이 살아있는 14트랙이 탄생했다.

Sayo and Noshel who were in same university and musical fellow formed a team in 2003. After 1 year making demonstration, They became an outstanding new team with a debut album included 6 brilliant pieces of music in 2004. They are well known as an endless bright and a fresh musician with “21st Century Magic”. Peppertones are coming back with their 2nd album <New Standard> named with a broad minded after their 1st album < Colorful Express>. This is perfect BGM for spring coming. we can feel calm and positive from their music. In just 4years after their debut, they let us recognized their own sound.
