PennyFlash uses the Leitner system of spaced repetition. This learning technique minimizes the number of times you review material you have already mastered and allows you to focus on those items you need to study more. This method has been proven to help students learn a large number of items and retain them indefinitely.

The Leitner system places your flashcards in one of 5 boxes. The first box is for flashcards you haven’t yet practiced. The fifth box is for flashcards you have mastered. When you review your flashcards, if you get one right, it moves to the next box. If you get one wrong, it moves back to the first box. This technique allows you to quickly learn new material without spending lots of time on things you already know.
