The PCSI (post-concussion symptom inventory) was developed by impact's Dr. Mark Lovell along with Pittsburgh Steelers neurosurgeon Dr. Joe Maroon to more objectively measure symptoms commonly reported by athletes suspected of having a concussion.

The inventory was developed in the 1980's and has since been adopted by numerous international committees, including the Concussion in Sports Group, the National Hockey League and numerous other organizations.

The PCSI consists of 22 symptoms that are rated on a scale from 0 (not present) to 6 (severe) and has undergone rigorous scientific study. The PCSI is contained within the Impact test and is also available in a free-standing version.

The PCSI is not meant to function as a diagnostic test but does provide the means to measure symptom severity from prior to injury (baseline), after injury (post-injury) and back to baseline.

• The PCSI consists of 22 symptoms that are rated on a scale from 0 (not present) to 6 (severe).

• This app allows for the measurement of symptoms that are often associated with concussion.

• Return to play decisions should never be based exclusively on the athletes report of symptoms and return to play decisions should always be made by by a qualified health care provider.

• If the athlete completing this inventory has experienced any symptoms of concussion, please seek an evaluation by a Doctor or other qualified health care professional.
