PasswordApp introduces a radical new way to manage your passwords!

We all know the importance that passwords play in our lives, but are we all aware of the importance of password security?
What would happen if someone guessed your password, it’s easier than you think;
Twitter was breached by a hacker using an automated password guesser. It correctly guessed the password “happiness” of a Twitter administrator account causing a great deal of embarrassment.
Now what if that was your Twitter, GMail or App Store account?

In the past password security has been a balance between convenience and security, do you opt for the convenience of an easy to remember password which you use everywhere or do you try to remember a strong unique password for each service that you use.
We all know we should do the latter but we are all guilty of opting for convenience.

Security researchers tell us it is better to write down all of your strong passwords than to try to remember a few, it is even better if you can obfuscate the passwords you’ve written. PasswordApp takes this advice and turns it into an application that anyone can use to secure their online life.

With PasswordApp you enter an easy to remember name and service and it turns them into an impossible to guess password. PasswordApp combines name and service with a password key which is unique to you so you don’t have to worry about someone else with PasswordApp generating the same password as you. You don’t need to write down you password because PasswordApp will generate the same password if you provide the same name and service, simply type the same name and service as you did to generate the original password and PasswordApp will generate the same password again for you. PasswordApp does not store the passwords it generate, it does not need to, so if your iPhone fell into wrong hands your passwords are safe.

If you do lose your iPhone you can still recover your passwords. If you have written down the password key and kept it in a safe place (as you are recommended to do) you can use your password key on a different install of PasswordApp and it will still generate the same password.

PasswordApp is different from all the other password utilities on the App Store, it doesn’t store passwords or throw together a bunch of characters that you need to remember or write down, however it does employs a well thought out strategy for creating strong passwords in a convenient and easy way to use.
