It is easy to use anywhere in the world,and provides simple one step information for your optimal health.

Thus the Opti-D Time Calculator helps you to REDUCE YOUR RISK OF SKIN CANCER as well as REDUCE YOUR RISK OF VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY.

To use the app, simply download and open.

The app will locate your position, worldwide and source the UV Index (intensity of UV Radiation) that is currently predicted for today.

You then simply enter your skin type and the level of cloud cover at your location.

The Opti-D Time Calculator based on this information will calculate how much time you need to spend in the sun to receive "Just the Right Amount" for optimal Vitamin D synthesis as well as minimise your risks of developing skin cancer or other UV related diseases like cataracts, premature aging etc.

It will also display the text "too long" if you cannot receive enough UV to synthesise enough Vitamin D for the day.

There are 6 defined skin types called "Fitzpatrick skin types" and they are defined by a picture in the app and are:-

Type I Light, pale white. Always burns, never tans

Type II White; fair. Usually burns, tans with difficulty

Type III Medium, white to olive. Sometimes mild burn, gradually tans to olive.

Type IV Olive, moderate brown. Rarely burns, tans with ease to a moderate brown.

Type V Brown, dark brown. Very rarely burns, tans very easily

Type VI Black, very dark brown to black. Never burns, tans very easily, deeply pigmented

Global UV index databases where accessed and manipulated to calculate and ascertain UV exposure levels world wide to produce global UV exposure indication software for analysis and education of current UV exposure requirements for optimal Vitamin D synthesis. These Opti-D Time Calculator was verified using calibrated UV dosmetry equipemnt to verify its accuracy.This allows the user to accurately receive the correct amount of UV exposure for their skin type for optimal health benefits. A UV exposure time calculator was also developed to predict the time required for solar UV exposure for optimal health benefits.
