We are a group of second grade students in senior high school at Costeas-Geitonas School, in Greece. We have founded the ET.E.K. virtual company which stands for “Company of smart consumption”, for our participation in JA-YE EUROPE COMPANY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION, in order to facilitate the daily life of the users through the use of technology. Observing the daily life of our family and in general the daily life of an average consumer (through questionnaires) we realized that a significant problem faced by Greek consumer society has to deal with the expiration of medicines and their difficulty to keep track of when their medicines expire.
Taking into consideration there facts we thought that as a group of young people we had to find a direct and effective solution to deal with this phenomenon. So, we started the design plan of “My Pharmacy”; An application for smartphones, where the user can check his/her medicines stock, be notified for its expiration date and find the nearest medicine collection in order to donate those medicines that are no longer of any use to people in need.
We represented our country, Greece, after our win among many teams there, in JA-YE EUROPE TRADE FAIR 2013 in Riga, Latvia. There we gained the Social Responsible Business award, as our project is going to have financial, social and environmental benefit;

THE FUNCTION OF THE APPLICATION
After buying a medicine, the consumer chooses (through research) through a list, which contains all the medicines, taken by EOF (Greek Organization for medicines), the medicine he wants to enter into the application. Finally by choosing it’s quantity and clicking on the button “save” the medicine enters on stock and calendar . In this way, the consumer will have the opportunity to check at all times all the medicines he owns, but also he will be aware of which drugs are going to expire at that time.
*On my stock (Short by name) medicines are colored based on their expiration date. (green when they have above 5 months to expire, orange between 5 and 3 months, red below 3 months and black when they had expired)

Notification of timely consumption
When the expiry date of a drug which have been entered into the application is close, the consumer can be notified five and three month before expire date in order to consume it.
Tracing the nearest place for collecting drugs
Sometimes we know that some of our drugs will expire in the near future and we don’t have to use them consequently they remain unused and expire. For this reason we thought that we should come up with a way which will help us to overcome this obstacle raise social awareness at a time when the number of people who need and develop empathy pharmaceutical care is increasing day by day.
In co-operation with TedEx Athens and in particular, both group which deals with the human grid, we have created a map with as many places as possible collecting medicines (like non-profit organization, hospitals).When the consumer realizes that some of the medicines are going to expire and he can’t consume them he will have the opportunity through our application to locate the nearest of these places. At this time, the network of collecting medicines operates in the wider area of Athens with more than 15 participants. Our next goal is to extend it to more areas not only in Greece but all over the world.
We should note that the user will easily be able to delete an entry for specific medicine, either because he consumed it or because he has donated it to some of these places on my calendar (to delete all same medicines hold on them or to delete one dragging in the edge)
