Application Description
There are many reading apps available, but My Little Reader uses a research-based story and method designed especially to help very young students build reading fluency.
The app is simple! Here’s how it works. For each page…
1) First, hear the voice of a reader
2) Then, practice by recording your own voice (iPhone or iPod Touch with microphone required).
3) Finally, compare the voice of the reader to your own recording (and re-record if you like).
Check out the screenshots below and you’ll see how easy it is to use.
Nick’s Tricks is the first story selected for this app. It is a word family story that focuses on “-ick” words (like “Nick”, “Trick”, “Stick) and sight words. The story is short — seven pages long — but repeated practice will help young readers develop fluent reading skills.
As an educator myself, I am providing this app for free in the hopes that it helps young students. If you like, please let me know, as I would love to offer other books in the future.
