The primary purpose of MY CHOICE BOARD is to present a visual display of “choices” to those with limited communication skills. This gives individuals with Autism, communication delays or learning differences the opportunity to be independent and express their own specific needs and wants.

How it works:

Images are selected based on preference of the user and displayed on the choice board (Example: Free time activity choices). The individual touches the preferred choice to show their preference (use the computer). The preferred selection is then displayed in the “I want” strip at the top of the application screen. Touch the image again and the image is enlarged and shown on the entire screen. If you have selected to record voice to the choices, with each selection the prerecorded message is produced. This is a wonderful visual support tool as well as an excellent introduction for those who maybe exploring the idea of using the iTouch or iPad as an assistive communication tool.

Customizable Options Include:

•User can save multiple Choice Boards.
A variety of different choice boards can be created and saved for future use. Choice boards can be themed to display whatever the preferences are of the individual i.e.: sensory choices, playtime or activity choices, restaurant options or food preferences.

•User Can Select the number of choices available on a Choice Board (You can add MORE than six images, you just need to swipe the screen to view more choices):


•Choices can be edited to show they are “unavailable”:
Choices can be edited under the edit screen to show that they are not available. A red circle with a slash is placed over the image to emphasize the choice is unavailable. This can be removed in the editing menu when the choice becomes an option.

•Images can be uploaded from iPhone camera, Internet image search feature or from personal computer:
User can upload images for use in the choice board and then can save them in the image library for use in later choice board. The camera on the iPhone make MY CHOICE BOARD perfect for trips to the store and allows a medium to encourage an individual to express their preferences toward certain items or activities.

•User has the option of recording sound to be added to images:
Adding sound to corresponding images helps reinforce receptive communication and encourage expressive language.

PLEASE NOTE: When using Touch, you must use an external microphone to record sound to the application.
