Meteosphere – global weather animations in 3D on your smartphone and tablet

We have put a lot of work into the new version of Meteosphere, so that you have even more weather at your fingertips:

• Streaming films on your device: The response times and the playback of the films will be significantly shortened
• Two additional films: Isobars and Isobars/Precipitation. Due to the location of the isobars high and low pressure areas can be localized.
• Impressive zoom: The new version offers a 8x higher zoom factor, making even the most local weather phenomena visible.
• Share function: Show your friends your current whereabouts in the world and what kind of weather you expect there, by email or on Facebook and Twitter.
• Classic weather forecasts for each location on the planet, in greater detail and further in advance: Add your favorite locations to the globe and get a detailed forecast, showing all the important weather parameters for today and the next 48 hours
• Precise local forecasts: The forecasts are based on the Meteomedia measurement network, one of the densest weather station measurement networks in the world. Only those who measure locally, can forecast locally too!

Meteosphere provides four forecasting films in the standard version which are updated every 12 hours. Additional animations are available in the premium version. Meteosphere uses the latest forecasting technologies for the calculation of the films. Hidden behind this is a massive amount of computing power. This means, for example, that in the case of a “weather preview film”, which displays an as natural as possible image of the weather events on the planet for the next 48 hours, over 14 billion model points per film are calculated. The path, size and speed of 172 million streamlines are calculated for global streamline films.

Additional content in the premium version:

• Temperature/Wind: Discover global temperature differences and developments, local wind systems and how they change over the course of the day.
• Snow/Rain: Is it going to rain or snow tomorrow? This animation answers this question for you comprehensively and on a global scale. You can also see the development of the snow cover in a completely new kind of weather forecast.
• Jetstream: Wind in around 10'000 m altitude is not only relevant for flight paths and flight turbulences. The jetstream with wind speeds of up to 550 km/h also shows weather active areas in which mainly low-pressure areas emerge.
• Isobars/Precipitation: In addition to the isobars this film shows the precipitation areas with the expected rainfall within 3 hours. In this combination, the user is able to identify particularly cold and warm fronts of low pressure areas.
