This is one of the most famous stotras composed by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. However there are several versions of this with variations. The text and Audio given in this application are the most popularly accepted version.
This stotram was written as a means of condensing the story and energy of Sri Chandi into 20 verses that would be more accessible to most people. Since not everyone can learn Sri Chandi, Adi Sankaracharya wished to give this stotram to all so that they could still benefit from the powerful message and energy of Chandi
